To gain website traffic you have to set your site up as a targeted resource center. Find your niche market then build your site around furnishing information on that niche. The upside of doing things this way is your visitors will continue to return.
Free seems to be the main word when enticing visitors to your site. Free eBooks, free video or a free blue print on how to generate traffic all seem to be good internet promotions. Just be aware that if you offer a free gift for visiting your site, make sure that you do give that gift away and don't try and pull a bait and switch by charging for it. You will be remembered for being shady and bad news spreads like wild fire.
Another lure that you can use to get return visitors to your website is adding a message board or even a chat room where people can share their same interest. People do like to socialize with other people who share their same ideas and points of view.
Back linking is also a good way to increase website traffic and again you can use a free gift to entice other website owners to link back to you. Besides generating more traffic to your site, back linking will also increase your search engine ranking as well.

Depending on the type of website that you are running, if it's a site that's selling something like Clickbank products then you need to be able to activate your prospects emotions and get them to take action. By getting to prospects emotions, the old saying in sales used to be, "Sell the sizzle, not the steak". And that still rings true today. In the process of generating website traffic, we forget that our website could look different in other browsers so always check your site using those otherwise; it could cost you some sales. Having visitors opt into your weekly newsletter known also as "e-zines" is a good way to keep in touch with your subscribers, and remind them to come back to your site over and over.

Website traffic can also be generated by running ads, proposing a question about their problem. Things like, "Not Generating Enough Traffic to Your Website?" Or another one, "Would you Like to Generate an Extra Monthly Income?" In doing this, now you just have to entice them to visit your website for the answer to their problem. If you master the art of magnifying your customer’s problem, the more likely they will be willing to visit your website if they feel you have the answer and the larger their problem, the more likely it is that they will place an order.


Once you start generating website traffic and you are making a profit, then you need to re-invest some of the profit back into your business. Adding to your marketing campaign will keep the momentum going if you keep up the marketing and the advertising. Once you have made your first sale, you should always follow-up with a customer. Send a thank you and always include information on other products that you sale. Customers that have already bought from you are the easiest customers to sale, so always mention other products that you have that might be of interest to them. Keep thinking of new and better ways to advertise, always check out what other webmasters are doing to generate website traffic and always test as you go along.
